Liz Lenten’s musical journey is a testament to her versatility and passion. From the intimate jazz clubs of London to the vibrant studios of Nashville, she has captivated audiences with her soulful voice and unique blend of Americana, blues, and roots music.
In 1999, she co-founded Auburn with long-time collaborator Mark “Gus” Gustavina. Their debut album, Dreams, and the hit single “Cry” propelled them into the indie music scene. With Liz’s husky vocals and the band’s rich instrumentation, Auburn quickly gained a dedicated following.
After a decade-long hiatus, they returned with the critically acclaimed Indian Summer in 2012. This album showcased their musical evolution, drawing comparisons to iconic artists like Macy Gray, Dusty Springfield, Tom Waits, and Leonard Cohen.
Their collaboration with Grammy-nominated producer Thomm Jutz led to a series of acclaimed albums, including Nashville, Mixed Feelings, Love and Promises, and the innovative 2019 release, Game of Faith. These albums solidified Auburn’s international reputation and garnered critical praise.
Beyond their studio work, Auburn has shared the stage with legendary musicians like Jefferson Starship, Martin Carthy, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Their live performances are an engaging and intimate experience.
In 2022, Liz was honoured by HM Queen Elizabeth, with the ‘British Empire Medal’ for her services to music and her community-focused music education initiatives. This recognition underscores her dedication to sharing her passion with others.
As Auburn continues to evolve and collaborate, Liz remains committed to creating music that resonates with audiences worldwide. With their latest releases, including the recent digital EP “My Favourite Mistake”, new single ‘Good To Be Anywhere’ and the upcoming 2025 vinyl LP, ‘Behind The Scenes’ they are hoping to continue to resonate with listeners.
